Extracorporeal Life Support Program (ECMO)

Providing life-saving intervention for the region's most critically ill infants and children.

Our program includes Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Therapy and is one of only three in the nation to perform emergency pediatric therapeutic apheresis, a safe and effective way of treating serious blood infections and diseases.

Cancer Surgery Program

Where groundbreaking pediatric cancer research meets world-class compassionate care

The Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute at Nicklaus Children's Hospital provides state-of-the-art medical and surgical care to more pediatric cancer patients than any other facility in South Florida.

We are members of Children's Oncology Group and we have many Clinical Trials available at our institution for rare cancers. 

Chest Wall
Deformity Center

Florida’s leader in the assessment and treatment of chest wall deformities in children and teens

The only facility in Florida to offer an FDA-approved bracing treatment for pectus carinatum in addition to comprehensive surgical options for pectus excavatum.

We performed the first Nuss procedure for Pectus Excavatum in there region and have extensive experience in the treatment of chest deformities.

Pediatric Robotic Surgery

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital became the first pediatric hospital in Florida to acquire the da Vinci® Xi™ Surgical System, which can be used across a spectrum of minimally invasive surgical procedures, including general pediatric, abdominal, colorectal, kidney, single-incision, thoracic and urologic surgery.

One the world's busiest programs having pefroemd over 700 cases since the programs inception in 2015.

 

For patients in need of gallbladder, ovarian, and renal surgery, a minimally-invasive option is available thanks robotic single-site incision options. Patients undergo visibly no scarring through this method, which is performed through a small incision hidden within the patients’ navel.

Verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and the first hospital in South Florida to achieve Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center verification.
